Weekend re-cap

Yes yes yes... I know it is Wednesday and almost time for the coming weekend. And I really did do an entry on Tuesday when I came back to work, but program froze and it did not post. So time for the weekend recap!

Friday, August 21, 2004
Took day off of work and spent entire day cleaning and decorating new house for big party on Saturday. My mum came over and did the decorating while I did the cleaning. Time spent cleaning = 15 hours.

Must learn to not obsess so much about cleaning, but seeing as my future mother-in-law was coming over felt need to impress and prove that I can run a proper household and take care of her son.

Had family over to the house from 1-5 pm. Everyone loved new digs. Brought plenty of food and presents. Had wonderful time. Even little cousins played great with little niece. However... one thing did get broken - the cat. Apparently sometime between 2 and 3:00 our cat suffered a traumatic experience and broke his leg. However did not know that leg was broken until vet visit the next morning.

Family left on time and had 2 hours to relax, clean up and prepare for friends to arrive at 7:00 pm. Friends arrived on time! Had fun trying to figure out new wine opening device - it pumps air into the bottle. Had about 25 friends over to break in the new house and neighbors. All had fun, though we realized that we are a bunch of old farts when everyone had left by 11:30. My 20 year old sister was very disappointed to arrive at 12:00 and see everyone gone but Scott's brother Todd and his wife Carrie. Jeni stayed until 2:30 and helped me clean up a little from the aftermath.

Duke has vet apt at 9:00 am for annual shots. Figured we would have them look at his leg as well. $350 later Duke has been put to sleep, X-rayed, shot, got a manicure, ears cleaned, shaved, drugged, and casted. Don't have to pay for the ear cleaning and nail trim, but thought would add it. Yes.. my cat now has a hot pink cast on his leg, which the vets signed. Remind me to get the X-ray from them so I can frame it and hang it up.

Then I went to work at the M-Den at the 12 Oaks Mall.

Have decided to take day off of work to keep an eye on Duke. He has been hiding under the couch and dragging himself around the house with his two front legs, as he has not yet figured out how to get away from bright pink thing following him. Has eaten and drank water, so I must help him use the potty now. Had to pass on trivia tonight (hear we bet the Nads by 1!) as I am broke because my cat refuses to get a job with medical benefits. We home made leftovers from party for dinner and watched the latest episode of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. VG episodes.

**Side note** Do not have Sci-Fi channel on cable system in South Lyon. So must tape all our favorite shows at parents house. Can not get satellite as condo does not face the proper way (SW).

Have returned to work. Everyone wants to know how Duke is. Promised funny pictures. Tried to claim Family Sick Time for being out on Monday, but apparently pets do not count. Had to claim a vacation day (fuck). Had pizza rolls for dinner. Had to pass on seeing my fave band (The Killer flamingo) and watched Nip/Tuck.

Duke visited us int he bedroom this morning. Drug patch must be wearing off. He is starting to hobble around the house. V. amusing! Have taken lots of pictures to share with future generations. Duke has a vet apt tonight. Hopefully will not have to sell my kidney on E-Bay tomorrow.
