Terri Schiavo

http://johnthorpe.blogspot.com/2005/03/terri-schiavo-wtf-is-wrong-with-people.html

I usually don't get caught up in touchy things such as this, but this is my blog, and my opinion. John found an interesting blog on Terri. And here is my opinion:

"Good point, even I have reservations about letting her starve and dehydrate to death, BUT if her parents would have let her die naturally 15 years ago, she would have passed away under better circumstances. But, because they were unable to honor HER wishes that her and her HUSBAND had agreed too, I hold them responsible for their daughter starving to death.

I also believe that if I have the right to put my dog or cat down, I should have the right to put my parents or myself down as well. Especially if they are dieing of a slow and painful death to begin with. That is what is in-humane. Making people suffer when they are dieing, when suffering is CLEARLY the last thing any of us want to do."

Oh. my. gosh. The chick who wrote that original post is psycho! I love how she accuses everyone else of not knowing the facts of the case, and then neglects to mention that Terri's husband actually did give her therapy for THREE YEARS and this is the result. The woman can't CHEW let alone talk. Really.

I really hate that she is starving to death, I don't care what they say about her not feeling it. Its a shitty way to go. Period. At the same time, euthanasia is illegal, so forget giving her a shot or something. And she just isn't going to get better.

So what's the better option here: monopolizing valuable time and resources at hospitals and rehab centers on someone they CANNOT fix, or learning what they can from the case, letting her go and focusing on someone else who needs help? Hmmmmmmm

Wondering about the rising cost of medical care in this country? Cases like this are part of the problem. When George W. Bush is ready to pay my health insurance premium then we can talk about him legislating my LIFE, but until then, F off.

Ok, got way more riled about that one than I was expecting... but this week-end my husband and I are getting Living Wills. And I'm an organ donor. Just want everyone to know so some psycho, over the top, death penalty supporting, nosy, ass hole legislator can't wake people up in the middle of the night to "save" a "life" that's all quanity and no quality.

That's the problem in general with the US. Our prisons are full of people spending "life" in prison. So we're paying for them to live for 60 years until they die. Why? Huge waste of money. A life sentence, should be a death sentence. There is no reason to keep around someone who has no chance of getting out.

Not feeding someone who can not feed themselves is wrong on many levels. It's far better to bring Dr. K out of retirement (jail) to do it humanely, instead causing this frenzy. Especially when known sex offenders are running rampant in FL.
